Project Overview
The Library Classification & Book Collection Management System is a purpose-built desktop application designed to help educational institutions and libraries efficiently manage, analyze, and visualize their book collections using the Library of Congress (LC) classification framework.
The system replaces fragmented, manual record-keeping methods with a centralized, structured, and visual management platform. It enables library staff to maintain accurate classification records while providing administrators and stakeholders with real-time insights into collection distribution, growth, and gaps.
Built to operate offline and within local networks, the solution is ideal for institutions that require reliability, speed, and data ownership without dependence on internet connectivity.
The Challenge
Many libraries continue to rely on paper records or basic spreadsheets to manage their collections.
These approaches often result in:
Data inconsistencies across departments and computers
Limited visibility into collection strength and coverage
Time-consuming reporting processes
Difficulty tracking volumes across LC classifications
Over-dependence on internet-based systems that are unreliable in local environments
These challenges hinder informed decision-making and long-term collection planning.
The Solution
This system delivers a modern, intuitive, and data-driven solution to library classification management.
By digitizing LC classification records and pairing them with interactive visual analytics, the platform transforms raw data into actionable insights. Staff can securely manage records, while administrators gain immediate visibility into collection performance through dashboards and reports.
The result is a scalable, offline-ready library management tool built for real-world institutional use.
